On 12 June, an English-language training session entitled “AI Literacy for English Philology Students” was held for students of the English Philology Programme at David Aghmashenebeli University of Georgia. The event was organised by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The training was led by Assoc. Prof. Lasha Chakhvadze and was prepared based on a small-scale needs analysis of English Philology students regarding the use of artificial intelligence.
During the training, participants received information on the ethical use of artificial intelligence and the correct formulation of instructions (prompts) for AI tools. They also completed practical tasks on the responsible editing of written assignments, creating quizzes for exam preparation and knowledge checking, preparing text-comprehension exercises and thematic vocabulary lists, and completing lexical and grammatical tasks responsibly.
As part of the training, students were also introduced to practical ways of using artificial intelligence to improve their English speaking skills
The following students participated in the event and received certificates of participation: Anano Khonelidze, Anastasia Masurashvili, Kristine Kvikvinia, Mariam Laliashvili, Eka Chaduneli, Lika Kobiashvili, Sopo Esaiashvili and Nino Morgoshia.
The organisational part of the event was coordinated by Prof. Zhaneta Kilasonia and Assoc. Prof. Lasha Chakhvadze.
As a result of the training, students gained a better understanding of the importance of using artificial intelligence responsibly and became familiar with practical ways of using it in the process of learning English.
